“The Upcoming Presidential Election and the End Times”

Dear friends, as our next U. S. Presidential Election cycle quickly approaches, and all of the doomsday-speculators begin to shift into high gear (with their “chicken-little” forecasts), please do not allow yourself to be shaken from Scriptural sanity. For we do not seek an earthly utopia, along with a pastor (or even a Christian) as president; but instead, we “…desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one…” (Hebrews 11:14-16).

However, because our “…citizenship is in heaven…” (Philippians 3:20), and because we are still pilgrims, on earth, progressing toward the celestial city (Matthew 5:13-16); we must be ever prayerful (1 Timothy 2:1-8), and come this November, responsible with our vote (Deuteronomy 16:18-20)! Indeed, these prophets-of-doom are already beginning to tell us, once again (just like they did with all of their hype leading up to Y2K), that: (1) … “The antichrist is surely alive and well on planet earth” (Oh really? See Matthew 24:5; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4; and 1 John 2:18,22); (2) … “The rapture might even happen tonight” (Oh really? See Daniel 12:2; Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; and 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7); (3) … “The Great Tribulation could be just around the corner” (Oh really? See Ezekiel 5:9; Daniel 12:1; Matthew 24:21; John 16:33; Acts 14:22; and Revelation 1:9); (4) … “The gospel still must reach all nations before the end” (Oh really? See Matthew 24:14; Romans 16:25-26; Colossians 1:23; and Revelation 14:6-7); (5) … “The Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ, on earth, from a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, where blood sacrifices will once again be offered, is all very near” (Oh really? See Daniel 9:27; Hebrews 10:12-14; Matthew 12:28; Luke 17:21; Acts 2:33-35; Romans 14:17; and 1 Corinthians 15:20-25); and lastly, (6) … “The nation of Israel can only be converted when the conditions are conducive, namely, at our Lord’s second coming!” (Oh really? See John 3:3-8; Zechariah 3:9; 4:6; I Corinthians 11:25; Hebrews 8:4-13; 10:15-18). Now, it’s with my final point, immediately above, that I would like us to have a brief conversation. Why? Because based upon Romans 9:1-8, “ethnic” Israel has always and only included elect (or believing) Jews. This is why the Word of God has not failed (Romans 9:6). God has always been the God of “true” Israel, and will one day vindicate Himself against all opinions to the contrary. And this will happen with their “national” conversion (Romans 11:27-29)! God alone knows when this will occur…Remember, only “elect” Jews can be saved (2 Timothy 2:8-10), and this will be so, especially, at their coming “reconciliation” to their Messiah (Romans 11:11-12, 15, 25-29)! This national “resurrection” is the blessing that awaits “true” Israel (Galatians 6:16)! Then, as news members of Christ’s church (Ephesians 2:11-22), they will lead the church (Matthew 16:18) in a vast global mission (Isaiah 42:6; 49:6) from a “rejuvenated” Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6,7)! Just listen to following words of the great English Puritan John Owen, “The Jews shall be gathered from all parts of the earth where they are now scattered, and brought home into their homeland.” Now, that’s some Scripturally-supported news about the future to really get excited about! Oh may our God help us to be found praying for the “peace” of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), and also for the “restoration” of Israel (Romans 10:1-4)! And may our hearts be prepared today, to encounter the living God tomorrow morning, in our public Worship, through the praises and prayers of His people, and through the preaching of His Holy Word!
