Missions Conference 2012

The 6th Annual Missions Conference at Audubon Drive Bible Church will feature guest speakers Dr. Elias Medeiros, Harriet Barbour Professor of Missions at Reformed Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi and Pastor Doug Nichols, founder and International Director Emeritus of Action International. Services begin Friday at 7pm and conclude with the Sunday morning worship service at 10:30am. Over the course of the conference, we’ll learn what it means to be a missionary, how we are all called to be missionaries, and how we can support our missionaries at home and abroad. There will be reports and updates from our local mission field as well. This year we will also have a Women’s Dinner on Saturday evening. Be encouraged as you hear Fokjelina Medeiros and Margaret Nichols share their testimony and the trials and joys of being on the mission field.

How does the Bible describe Hell?

Posted by on Jan 20, 2012 in Newspaper, Uncategorized | Comments Off

The devil is very sly in how he aims to redirect men, women, and children away from the need of the hour. One of his most common deceptions is to strive to convince both the unbeliever (irreligious and religious) and the true believer (Luke 22:31-32; Ephesians 6:13-17) that things are just not exactly how the Bible depicts them. He whispers that the Bible is archaic, full of errors, the source of legend and myth . . . and if you are not persuaded, he will aim to convince you that God is a hard Master (Matthew 25:24), or even worse, an...

The Gift of Biblical Parenting

Posted by on Dec 16, 2011 in Newspaper, Uncategorized | Comments Off

One of the most wonderful experiences that one can partake of this side of heaven is becoming a parent … especially a Christian parent! From its precious beginning when the budding father hears those unforgettable words, “Honey, I’m pregnant!” to our very last breath, parenting is one of the greatest blessings and personal awakenings one can experience this side of heaven. In regard to personal awakenings (I am referring to what each parent learns incrementally about himself or herself during every stage of their child’s...

Are you a Biblicist or a Pragmatist?

Posted by on Dec 8, 2011 in Newspaper, Uncategorized | Comments Off

The Apostle Paul once told the Corinthian Church, “I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos…that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written…” (1 Corinthians 4:6). In other words, follow our example of being Biblicists – i.e., those who aim to live their daily lives by the Word of God alone and not by the religious traditions or sincere emotions of men. But if we begin to look honestly at the modern-day evangelical church (which includes our own lives, families and churches), we must confess that Christendom is...

Are You a Person of THE Book?

Posted by on Nov 16, 2011 in Uncategorized | Comments Off

The Bible is God’s gracious Word to sinful man. It is NOT an exhaustive depository of the knowledge of God, or an intimate record of everything that is and of anything that goes on “under the sun,” or even a complete manual of the totality of His intricate dealings with man … but, it is a divinely-ordained composite of God’s revealed will for all mankind. In fact, the Bible contains everything that is necessary for both the obtaining of eternal life and for living a godly life in Christ Jesus our Lord (2 Timothy 2:8-10; Ephesians...

Voting is your sacred duty!

Posted by on Nov 3, 2011 in Newspaper, Uncategorized | Comments Off

Dear citizen of America (and hopefully of heaven – Philippians 3:20), this Tuesday, November 8th, the citizens of Mississippi will be asked to exercise their freedom to vote. It is an historic election in that it is the first time Mississippi has had three constitutional initiatives on the ballot. At that privileged and solemn time, Mississippians will either exercise their right or simply stay at home, indifferent to the whole political process (Edmund Burke once rightly quipped, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for...
